Romans 6:23a.
"For the wages of sin is death."
I am
sinful
I have lied, stolen, cheated, gossiped, had idols.
I have been impatient & downright rude.
I have dishonored my parents, thought unkind thoughts.
I deserve death. Eternal death.
But.
(and this is a REALLY big one)
Romans 6:23b
"the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ"
But through Jesus Christ I have life.
I get grace, mercy, unconditional love.
I have hope, forgiveness, redemption.
I have joy, peace.
I have victory over death.
"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor
height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to
separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 8:37-39
Through Christ
I get nothing I deserve & everything I don't.
Through Christ
I get nothing I deserve & everything I don't.
Stop. Read the entire chapter of Romans 8. Now.
& that my dear friends, is what I like to call a fierce irony.
